England : Bedfordshire Luton Slightly Hilly House Warming Cake ride - Sat. 12th January 2013

Last night was supposed to be colder than tonight in fact. This morning it hadn't really got down to freezing at home (and we're on top of a big hill). There wasn't any frost on the grass and water was still liquid outside.
Freewheeling down the hill this morning (maximum cold air in face) felt measurably warmer than yesterday. Nothing anywhere near freezing. We've had no rain so we shouldn't encounter any standing water (other than that flooded bit discovered on the reccie ride, which we will now avoid) or damp spots that could freeze. Dress warm peeps (wind blocking gear if you've got it) and we should be fine.

Sorry to have been quiet about this - been frightfully busy on the work front! I'm afraid I can't come. My father was taken into hospital last night, so I shall be riding over to Essex to visit him instead. Have a good one - may your water bottles stay un-frozen!

Sounds like all you needed (for now at least) was a DIY chiropractic adjustment! Hope the physio guy is helpful. And get back with the Pilates if possible - that makes all the difference for me.

Trainer guy reckons no cycling, pilates or weights involving the lower body for a week now that I'm "level" again. Might all be a pile of poo but I think I will give it a go so unfortunately I'm definitely out of this ride

Sorry all I am out too. I will be doing a DIY 200 with Tynan on the first and last legs of the LEL route.

Hope you all have a safe ride and I hope to see you soon.
Just got over a bad bug and decided that waking up at 5 tomorrow for a ride in the near freezing is not a good idea. I'll be snotted up. Sorry folks.
Getting over some lurgy myself so you've got my sympathies! GWS.

Seems, am following the crowd..

I am sorry, but after serious deliberation, I have decided to also pull out of this ride. We have the weather but also the Spesh's rear tyre was, for some unknown reason flat this morning.. Tyres have almost had it too upon closer inspection and so the liability/risk factors weigh strongly and I don't like having that factor on group rides.. on my own, fine..

So, have a good one if it happens and catch you all soon.

Thanks.
Ooooooh the weather forecast is looking very chilly. If the ride isn't cancelled I'd like a ham sandwich on brown with a side salad and a portion of chips, please. Hmmm cycling in sleet on my roadbke?? I guess I wont book a rail ticket until Saturday morning once I know the ride is still on. As you can see FD and RO Im staying positive at this point but I do wonder whether this ride is a sensible thing for me to do....!

Mice
If I let you know twice does that mean I get double helpings??? :hungry:

Actually Im not entirely convinced that tomorrow's ride is going to be a sensible thing for me to do. I was out in 4 degrees today and Im not sure I'll enjoy cycling in anything lower than that no matter how fab the company, route and lunch is.

So as I am here at the keyboard I will take the opportunity, somewhat reluctantly, to pull out of this ride - and so please cancel my food order(s)! Such a shame but the more I think about it, it's just too cold to be out on the bike other than a local pootle. Much irritations and big thanks for setting it up and please, please, please do an action reply (without the bad weather) another time.

Mice :hello:

I've just seen the BBC weather forecast which suggests I'll be getting wet all the way from home to St Albans. However, Weatherspark still seems to believe I'll be dry.

I may be a last minute no-show but I'll see which weather forecast is right when I get up in the morning. If Weatherspark is right, I'll be on my way otherwise I'll send Adam and Jay a text.

Chips or jacket potato?

PS As you're coming by train, it's likely to be cheaper to buy a ticket into London, and then do my tip for the London-Luton Parkway-London leg as per page 1, rather than 1 ticket all the way to Luton Parkway.

Sorry, jacket. Got a return all the way up- it was only £4 or so more than the return to Waterloo. Split would only work out cheaper if I was going via Victoria, I think.

It's a bit more complicated than that...
Jacket & chilli; jacket & asparagus/stilton

The bike's in the car; see you tomorrow subject to no snow!
