Have a look at the Giant Defy range. They are a relatively lightweight aluminium frame with some reasonable kit as standard. And you may be able to find a 2015 model at a bargain price. The new 2016 models just seem to have been given different paint jobs! I am well pleased with my 2015 Defy 0 - it's a pleasure to ride and is comfortable.

Aside from the usual 'buy the bike I have, it's great!' replies, what are you going to use it for? Drop bars doesn't necessarily mean road only, cyclocross/gravel/adventure bikes are great bridleway bashers and 'frankenbikes' like the Genesis Vagabond can take you pretty much anywhere. Almost any bike will be comfy if it fits properly and you've given your body enough time to get used to the geometry.

I'm looking at getting a new bike which I plan on using for day leisure rides thats comfy. My budget is around
850 ish mark and the bike will have drop bars. Loads to choose from just asking what members think would be a good bike to look for or ones to avoid.

Have a look at Rutland cycles they have a sale on of 2015 road bikes you may find something but some are limited to a couple of sizes, good luck in finding what your
after.........

Rutland cycles is a regular stop for me(on t'internet),so recommended.
£850 is a popular number for bike buying, and I'm quite drawn to the Merlin ROC 105 out of the ones suggested.
To be honest, all of them would suit you.
Another suggestion would be the Sensa Romagno Special.
A cracking bike, and seems great value

if you have 850 and comfort spend 750 and get a brookes sprung saddle and other such comfort wear. also consider CX bikes with 32 tyres bieng a lot more comfy than 23-25 or so i hear.....

Those sprung saddles would look a little odd on modern road or CX bikes.

It wont have the same art-deco kind of feel
