I'm looking at getting a new bike which I plan on using for day leisure rides thats comfy. My budget is around
850 ish mark and the bike will have drop bars. Loads to choose from just asking what members think would be a good bike to look for or ones to avoid.

Sportive geometry might suit like a Cannondale Synapse or Giant Defy, or even steel tourer style like the Genesis equilibrium

See what your local shops have

Avoid TT bikes ;)

The Ridgeback Voyage looks really nice thanks for the link.
I'll have to get into a shop and have a look at one.
Again thanks for the advice.

Triban 540 all the way - such value for money! spend some of the money saved on some better tyres as the ones it comes with are crap or better wheels. spokes mc'goats.

For whats it's worth have a look at the Giant defy 3 (2014) for a bike with an RRp of around £650 you can pick them up for just over £400, which is incredible value for money and a lovely bike to ride, being lightweight and with the option to attach racks if you so wish to use as a tourer.
