Maplins sells graphite lock lube in a spray can, £2.

3-in-1 is probably the worst possible choice, as the light fractions evaporate and leave behind heavy gunk, which builds up with each subsequent application and gums up the mechanism.

only use WD40 if you need to clean a stripped down lock. then polish/dry all the bits thoroughly with a dry lint free cloth ( higear sportstowels work well) only lubricate a lock with graphite powder.

brass doesn't self lube , thats phospor bronze. brass locks will need a graphite lube once a year.

Stripping down a lock? Are you joking?
Who in their right mind would take a lock apart to clean it. I have taken locks apart (I have an interest in lock picking) and they require a special jig to compress the springs for assembly.
Don't use any kind of oil in a lock, and brass is self-lubricating which is why it is used in gas fittings.
