Late season races - *Spoilers*

Well, there are still a few tasty races going on before the season closes.

Two firsts in the last couple of days - it's hard to believe, but Alberto Contador has never won a day race before - the Milano-Torino was his first.

And then today, in the Giro del Piemonte, Rigoberto Uran took his first day race win. I had thought that the course would be more suitable for Sergio Henao [edit: a little update - Henao was 4th], but hey, he's Colombian, so I'm happy. Uran has had a solid season, what with Olympic silver too.

Lombardia on saturday of course - with Gilbert in his new jersey - and Paris-Tours the weekend after I think.

So the autumn classic giro de Lombardia tomorrow - the race of the falling leaves or the race of the leaving falls if Menchov is doing it.
Bertie sounds very keen to win it but I'm going for Gilbert again for this one.

The Lombardia finishes with the 2km Muro di Sormano, which has an average gradient of 15.2! Bjarne Riis is saying that it's too tough (miserable farker), but this guy managed to wheely up it a few years ago (seriously, watch this video...).

as much as i love these races, there is a sadness as another season draws to a close.

great win for Uran and a 3rd for Verdugo - great result for Euskaltel.

bertie vs Gilbert then. both want it for different reasons. my money is on the world champ, although my predicting skills are worse than my cycling ones... and that's saying something.
