Done! It's not perfect, but it's not meant to be a concours restoration; I wanted something I can get muddy. That said, I would like to source the trim piece from the left hand shifter, but as ever with older Shimano stuff, aftermarket spares availability is dismal. But it doesn't stop me using it, which I should get to do later today. Anyway, here's the finished machine, which has taken a surprising amount of time and effort considering how little I've actually done to it.

I got it (and myself) muddy! 55km shakedown ride round the Collier's Trail in the Forest of Dean.
