Things are just starting to get easier for me...not easy might I add...easier lol. I set myself goals like don't drop below 10mph on hills and don't slow right down once I have battled to the top, keep pushing on and keep the cadence up. This seems to be helping alot. Once I have mastered those I will come up with something new! Like tge saying goes...it doesn't get easier, you just get faster! And remember the other one....shut up legs!

This happens from time to time.

I don't know it's got easier and I have got faster.
38miles @ 16.9mph last night, had a slow leak on the rear for the last 6 miles or so. 2hrs 14'50"
first time I did such a distance over similar terrain was last July 21st, I did 37.1 miles in 2hrs 56'28" avg 12.6mph, and probably stopped 5 or 6 times, I stopped last night watch the sunset and cig, and then the forced stops to pump up the rear tyre.

On the subject of goals:

I really set out to just do a couple of rides a week to help to stave off the Grim Reaper for as long as possible - although some days I get up feeling achy and I think he is slowly getting the better of me.

Well, this morning I got up nice and early to do a '30' - my first but as I was sat out back munching my Shredded Wheat watching Blue Tits eating seed in the garden I, was pondering my ride and realised I have become a little more fixated on distance and speed than I intended.

I tend to be a bit philosophical by nature and was trying to figure whether this was good or bad.

I decided that it didn't suit me today and went and did just over half that distance instead. Don't feel bad about my decision either.

Might change my mind tomorrow though. Mrs SD often levels the charge of being a fickle soul at me - she's probably right!

Not to mention this can be put on strava, and you can see your improvements.

Ok, I buckled to pressure and got Strava (which I'm liking) .. Is it worth upgrading to the premium version? And does anyone know if once you stop it automatically saves the ride or do you have to stop the recording manually?

One little tip about hills....
Don't look at the top when you're riding up ithem! Your brain will tell you you're knackered before you actually are...
Look a few feet in front of the wheel (keeping safety in mind if you are on a road, obviously!) so you don't see the gradient.

& welcome HB2210

Can I honestly say this advice has been a Godsend on even the wee hills.... Thanks ;)

I use a garmin and upload manually, I think you should always stop your ride manually though. I had to on endomondo when i used it on the phone last Aug.
Glad you like it, post a link and we can follow your rides then.
