I work for a perfume manufacturer and some of the raw materials absolutely STINK, butyric acid is one.... it fills the whole building when one of the lab girls just opens a bottle. Some materials are so powerful that we have to use them as 1% or 5% dilutions and from my time in the flavour industry I know that garlic oil and some others are so powerful that they can actually eat through aluminium cans and must be stored in glass.

I used to amuse myself in the school labs by unstoppering a bottle of butyric acid for a short while at the back of the labs and then watch the boys blame each other for having smelly trainers.

It is vile.

Blimey, I work in the head office of a large international PLC, 100's of staff, multiples of offices, not even the CEO has has own office, he like everyone else is on the office floor.
