I looked at the title and thought 'he's dead already isn't he'

Great shame though . The Clash was a cool band ;)

I had the pleasure of meeting Joe some years ago, what a really nice guy! Those of you who are Stranglers fans, I also had the pleasure of meeting Hugh Cornwell some years ago, as a tongue in cheek statement I said to Hugh " There have been two great things in my life, the birth of my daughter and meeting Dave Greenfield" you should of seen Hugh's face!

His contribution to music as very much the same as that of the sex pistols.

Ephemeral.

I was a teenager in the 80s, and the pistols were the most edgy punk band, but the clash had some sort of political upper hand.

The specials were the most important band to come out of those years.

I and many others think not.

As relevant today as the day they were first heard.

Most of their stuff that was taken seriously was dirge... london calling, rock the casbah etc. Admit it.

Their first album had 2 good songs, white riot and janey jones, and give em enough rope had a couple of pleasant ones on it including 'julies been working for the drug squad'.

If I see someone listening to a whole clash album, then I instantly mistrust them as they are going to be a bit holier than thou - or a bit thick.

The sex pistols were the real deal and sid vicious deserves the laurels that public school annoyer joe strummer gets.
