Because a fart is basically methane gas and Covid is spread through water droplets sneezed or breathed out. There's a huge difference in size between a molecule and a water droplet. If a mask stopped the passage of gasses, then it would suffocate you....which is not particularly desirable.

Sorry I am confused, if was you that told me that over 70's weren't allowed out, now you are saying that they are, as to what was on news either last night or this morning I have no idea, I haven't watched the news for some considerable time, there wasn't anything useful being conveyed so i stopped watching/listening, I only listen to Smooth radio same 500 tracks over & over again with 90 seconds of news on each hour which is enough. I however do try to catch the briefing most days, but only Mon - Fri.

I posted "They are" meaning they are allowed out just like everyone else and always have been despite many thinking they were all told to shield when they quite clearly weren't.
