I was out by Carron Valley Dam today and a group of about 8 cyclists passed me and my cycling partner. About 5 minutes later we caught up with them as one seemed to have had a puncture or something. They were all spread out in various positions (sitting on the bike, standing beside it) across the entire lane and the guy fixing his bike had it sideways across the road to the white line.
We had to overtake this entire collection of people and bikes by going out into the opposite lane towards a blind summit. They were fairly spread out so was in the opposite lane long enough to be wiped out by oncoming traffic.
I admit to not understanding fully the ways of the cycling group/club. I now understand 2 deep, and recently 3 deep, but this behaviour today was a new one for me.
Should I have communicated my annoyance, or should I have understood that this is totally justifiable and necessary behaviour for a group of cyclists?
