Is there a better puncture resistant tyre than this for 700x23 ?

I do the same also but for some reason this tyre popped out of the well when I was changing them over to another set of wheels. Like I say it was a silly mistake it would seem by me.

Im a heavy rider...I like to ride fast...I'm fed up with punctures at 110psi etc the tyre allows for psi up to 140psi ish I think, so I choose to use a higher psi...simples...

1. check the maximum pressure the rim will take.

2. It's unlikely you're getting pinch flats at 110psi, so 140 should make little difference to puncture protection.

3. It will be a harsh ride.

4. You are limiting your choice of tyre.

the tyre says it goes to 145...no idea about the rim...but so far so good...they weren't pinch flats...rather when I hit a pothole etc
Harsh ride...yep...I guess so...im happy with the duranos on this bike...I just wondered if there was any better out there..

I always fit the tyre around the valve 1st. A lot of the instructions I've read say save the valve area till last but I just can't seem to get a decent fit using this method!

Same here, I also then squeeze the tyre and check I can see the rim tape all the way around on both sides, adds a couple of minutes but you know you haven't pinched the tube by doing it.

I reckon the rim would fail before the tyre, if over inflated

Anyway - 4 Seasons are very good all-rounders. Far far superior to G/Skins, imho (and I have done mucho miles on on both). Gators are, as already mentioned 'well-dodge' in the wet...

I too have used these on my all round machine surpassing 4k miles now (1k with the new set) and have never had a problem with the wet surfaces that I recall. I have had cheaper tyres from michelin and schwalbe range which pale in comparison to the gatorskins, I may give these other tyres a go one day but cannot say the gators were poor.

As long as I breathe, I attack.
Gatorskins are awful tyres and are marginally dangerous in the wet, I have a nearly new pair sat in my office that I refuse to use.
Odd each to their own, i cant say i have ever had a problem with them in all weathers in over 10,000 miles and i would buy them again when my current set wear out , so if you want to bin them via a post office ...

I think a lot has to do with the tyres you're used to. After using Schwable Ultremo Aqua in cold/wet conditions I find all other clincher tyres I've tried to provide mediocre to inadequate grip in the wet, that includes tyres like the Conti Grand Prix 4 Season. All the good wet weather tyres I've found besides the Aqua have been tubulars.

just fitted two new durano+ tyres ...new schwalbe tubes....loads of talc and up to 135 psi for now.

superglued the nicks in the old pair ready for application to hack instead of old gatorskins on it at the mo.
