Is there a better puncture resistant tyre than this for 700x23 ?

I have been riding these for a year now puncture free...today the fairy finally arrived. Something big sliced right through the tyre...it had no chance. I'm about to hit the buy now button on a replacement set of these but thought Id just post here in case wiser men than me know a better tyre.

I need it to be very puncture resistant, fast as poss but I wont sacrifice puncture resistance for speed . I need them to happily take high psi 140psi.

These are going to do lejog, but before that they are going up a few foreign mountains. Thee tyres work for me like I said but if there are better I'll look at them...

Any suggestions?

You like them (and I know I do...)? Stick with them then. Conti Gator Hardshells & Specialized Armadillos are probably the nearest alternatives, but the Durano Pluses (IMHO) seem to have the speed/comfort/fairy resistance balance just right. More than up to a LeJOG.

Also read on here of others that like the Rubinos. I agree with StuAff though, probably better sticking with what you have found to be successful so far. I have put the Durano Plus on my Forme and am thinking about putting them on my Specialized Vita hybrid too. It currently has Specialized Nimbus with the flakjacket protection but I find them horrible to ride on. Bike feels like it has wooden tyres.

Going a bit off topic, but does anyone know if there is much difference between the wire beaded or foldable kevlar beaded versions for putting on and removing ease? I know there is a marginal weight difference which I am not that bothered about.

+1 for the Durano + although I use the non-folding variety.

Conti 4 Seasons are the best all weather high grip tyre. Gators are slippy in comparison.

I agree, of all the products people rave about, there are two I absolutely do not agree on:

Gatorskins are awful tyres and are marginally dangerous in the wet, I have a nearly new pair sat in my office that I refuse to use.

The other product I do not rate at all is Kool Stop Salmon brake pads, I have used them and vs Swisstop pads, the Kool Stop are almost like having no brakes!

I'm not a gatorskin fan. I had them for a while and all I got was endless punctures and they wear down too fast. At 6'4" and 220 Lbs I want high psi (120psi is for wimps;))

No. Conti gatorskin hardshells are great tyres.

Yes

Once cyclists have a consensus on what's a good tyre can we get 'em to crack the Arab-Israeli conflict?
