Is 28 spokes enough for a heavy bugger?

I don't think crankarm was talking about you
Are you sure? This is the second post in this thread alone that he has basically told overweight people to lose weight and all their wheel problems will be sorted.

I was going off the first bit of the post brompton, unless you've changed your wheels since your original post?
Thats what i was going off too, but a few points

1. I'm not a huge fat bloke
2. I dont ride deep rimmed carbon race wheels
3. Stop making assumptions and personal insults

Or like i said, move on over to bike radar were your insults along with @Crankarm will be more welcome

What the f*** are you on about?
A. I'm not actually that fat only about 2 stone over my weight due to being quite a big bloke, think rugby player. The weight gain was originally down to taking steroids during a cancer scare...which ended in a mastectomy, but thanks for that comment.
B. The wheels are not carbon, they're alloy and have triple butted spokes so should be stronger than a 32 count double butted wheels.
C. Stop acting a like a know it all douchebag throwing insensitive comments around.

I agree with @potsy I don't think the post was about you. I'm also fat but I didn't take offence

Its offensive when its fuelled by assumption and from a nomark forum goer who thinks he has the right to make those remarks.

I wonder if he would make that remark when not hiding behind a keyboard

Apologies to those of the fuller figure and those higher up the weight scale I wasn't trying to cause offence but merely point out rather bluntly that rather than focus on spending more cash on lighter stronger wheels for your bikes which may or may not be up to the job of carrying you, why not focus on losing more weight from yourselves, rather than your bikes, so the benefits of such lighter stronger wheels would be more significant and also the wheels would be less likely to fail also you would become a far better cyclist as you would be far lighter. I am seeing it more as priorities where is the best place to shed the weight. I weigh 68 - 70kg but ride on 32 and 36H hand built wheels mostly Mavic Open Pro CD rims on Campag Chorus 32H or Ultegra 32/36H or Bontrager Race hubs 24H or XT 36H hubs or Sram 3 spd x2 on on my Brompton. I haven't always been my current 68-70kg. At my heaviest I was 79kg. The lightest I have been is 65kg. I am 5'9". HTH.

Well if he wasn't fair enough, however there's still no need for a post like that in this thread....he still meant to cause offence.

I think your Title uses the wording "heavy bugger". Now if I had used this I have a sneaking suspicion that you and other heavy buggers would be equally offended or can only such a description be the preserve of the fuller heavier figure? Are you claiming ownership of all such descriptions and euphemisms to characterise larger heavier people?
