Ask your local council if they offer free adult cycle training.
Not sure where abouts you are, but Northamptonshire runs free training...If you are in this area pm me and I'll pass on the details of the guy to get in touch with (he runs a course at our school)

Hey guys I am new to cycling, I never tried it out because I been too reliant on public transport. However I want to start cycling for a healthier and cheaper mode of commuting, so would 19 be too late to start? I had one trail, I managed to handle it for a while, however I kept on falling a lot.

I think you are pulling our plonkers!

19 lol

Isnt it weird how we have this perception of being "old" at whatever age we are. I think im old at 31, some would agree others would laugh.
Everyone can cycle, although some are more natural than other with balance, my brother cant look down to get his foot in his toe straps without wobbling all over the place.

I'm 27, re-started at 19 y/o too. Not sure if you've re-started, or are a beginner, but (as said) there are plenty of cycling groups where you can learn. You'll love cycling > public transport as well. I was in the same boat, 8 years ago.

Do you have any physical or mental problems that make it difficult to stay upright.

44 years old and 400 pounds when I got back into biking after finding a Raleigh at a Parish Rummage Sale. Had a new job as a security guard, and that and the bike helped me get more fit . I had been a photo lab manager , and didn't have time for exercise . At 19 , you have time on your side . Get out there and ride . Enjoy !

19 would be an ideal age to start cycling. Most people start going to nightclubs in their late teens and come into contact with harder drugs for the first time. People with an interest in fitness are less likely to get involved with them.

I bought my first road bike when I was 31. Wish I'd started when I was 19, as I might've been good at it by now! Best of luck mate.
