Stuck in work but at least I cycled in/will be cycling home - very misty but should be a cracking home leg!

How much difference time wise does the dalmeny diversion make? It's a slog up, but more scenic on the way down I found

I dunno I don't use it - I head towards Kirkliston then take the turning for the Elizabeth Yards, all on road though can be busy in parts. I found the path too narrow and quite, boring. Might be better once they upgrade it. I may use the Dalmeny diversion tonight if it's busy, though I don't like that stupid gate before Queensferry (came a cropper there last year).

Will give that road a try next time I head that way. Never sure which roads o across and which ones just end at a farm

Coming out of Edinburgh you follow the road left after the Dalmeny entrance, before where the buses come up and past the Army barracks - straight on past Craigies entrance, under the railway bridge and as the road narrows again there is a couple of cottages on the left with the junction for Elizabeth Yards on the right. Just need to signal in plenty time for cars behind you.

Nice short sharp climb and you'll see the bridge, next left takes you past the yards and over the motorway to the A8000 - straight on takes you into Dalmeny.
