Insurance company will only pay for a Halfords bike?

Thanks for all the help everyone. The insurance company is MoreThan. They suggested getting a GT Aggressor X3 in replacement, which I'm aware is a decent bike. Problem is, Halfords is getting rid of GT's so they don't actually have any of these left. I'm not sure if it is specifically in the T&C; if its not can I question it then?
The issue is that your insurer should replace like for like. Choose the bike that you wan, see if Halfords can provide it for you. If not, demand a cheque so you can choose your own supplier.

Personally, I'm pig-headed enough about insurers trying to screw customers that I'd just demand a cheque anyway, whether Halfords could supply my chosen bike or not.

The fundamental point, though, remains that you must choose the bike that you want, regardless of supplier, and only then get Halfords to attempt to supply it.

not if his contract with his insurer says otherwise. equivalant does not mean identical.
