I agree about his riding skill 100%. But without supporters and media coverage there is no fame and fortune, and i think he often forgets this. If the sport wasn't so popular right now there would be no big contracts or sponsorship. He is a particular personality, you are right. But I have seen him push fans out of the way who are just after an autograph. Of course you can't always be full of the joys of spring, no-one is! But most of the time he doesn't even make a half hearted attempt to look interested.
You imagine you've been waiting for him to sign your shirt or similar, and when he comes, he just pushes past ignoring you. How would you feel?
it wouldn't bother me cause i'm not the type to go celebrity hunting and doing their charity rides - more interested in riding my bike and doing my own thing. If you know what type of personality he is, why moan about it when he does what you already know he's going to do. Just accept him for who he is and move on.

Just to add, he didn't make himself a celebrity, he just rode his bike. the pubic and media is what made him a celebrity - too much media hype around sport stars these days.
Like stevie gerrard said in an interview recently when asked what it's like to be a celebrity, he said " i'm not a celebrity, i'm a footballer and thats it"

You can't hold your hands out for the money and lifestyle and screw the fans and media. It doesn't work like that.
I'm not a celebrity hunter either. Just commenting on the Wiggins thing. It's the media hype, as you say that makes them famous. As well as the supporters. Without all that, none of them would be famous.

he's famous for two things - riding his bike and being the first brit tdf winner - other than that he's just a normal average joe who collects his pay packet and does the odd sponsor/charity event. He also puts a lot of his earnings back into the sport in the form of team wiggle pro honda

Just let him be Sir Bradley Wiggins and let him enjoy riding his back, without chastising him just cause he didn't want to sign autographs - it could be that he didn't want to be there, but his sponsors/charity organisers enforced it. Would you be happy going somewhere you didn't want to go???

If I was financially obligated, yes.
Anyway, this conversation is going nowhere. See ya!

Walsh has well and truly pinned his colours to the mast.

To a large extent he has, but what interested me in that interview was that is was cyclingnews that appeared to have the agenda not Walsh. From Walsh there was a lot of "I think that's a fair question", "that's valid" etc. In the past, whenever it concerned Armstrong, he always appeared to be emotionally involved (too much so IMHO). I infer from this interview that this is not the case with Sky - notwithstanding the fact that he is making a case on the basis of "knowing" some of them - it appeared to be a balanced thoughtful conclusion. Which is encouraging for anyone wanting to believe that Sky are clean.
