I have just spotted on amazon that David Walsh's book is due to be published on 21,11,13

Might be interesting to see what he comes up with and the response of Paul Kimmage might be even more interesting. Haha

It was when I was writing my list to Santa that I spotted it.
There is also one about cycling in Rwanda that looks worth a read so it's on the list as well.

Old news...Telegraph rehashing a story from a week or two ago. They must be short of copy! More in it than the obvious, like did CF drop his several hundred thousand Euro for 2nd place into the team pot as well? I hope so because that's the normal thing, everyone gets a share of all the money won.No big shouty reaction on Twitter from Ms Cound, so maybe the story is not quite totally as it may appear. Then again, it may be.
Anyway if what we read is correct, it's all sorted out now, and the only interest would be from people who had to find something to have a bash at Brad about.

Ah, more is revealed. Nothing to do with the sharing of team winnings, but about a share of the win bonus (part of the rider contract) that BW would have received. Which is a different matter, as it was not part of the team "pot" from winnings. Some comments on CyclingNews, interesting to see how popular or not Ms Cound is making herself, which can't help much with contract negotiations with team owners. A TdF winner is worth a lot of money, but a team PR department does not need grief from "business managers" who are prone to tweeting stuff that should remain private business.

To be fair, has she said anything here ? Isn't it just David Walsh really ?
Michelle Cound keeping quiet? Wishful thinking. She's quoted in an Owen Slot piece in The Times today.
"Cound told The Times: “People don’t necessarily tell each other what bonus they have got. So we didn’t know for sure what the situation was.”

It was only when Richie Porte, another team-mate, told Froome that he had received a slice that Froome’s concerns were confirmed. Some riders got €30,000.

“We didn’t know what the other riders got,” Cound said. “But Brad paid Chris nothing.”

Wiggins’s failure to pay Froome was reported in a new book, Inside Team Sky , by David Walsh, the journalist who was embedded in the team throughout this year’s Tour.

Cound said: “I don’t believe Brad ever intended to pay Chris the bonus. I think the reason he did is because he knew it was coming out in the book. Brad paying Chris really doesn’t mean that much. It’s about a lot more than the sum of money.”
I'm certainly not going to condone Brad's behaviour on the bonus- regardless of the bad blood, rules is rules, and he should have paid up. But pray tell, Janine Michelle, what about all the fees and prize money from your man's criteriums this summer? Did he split those? Or is that different?

Yes interesting one this, as a win bonus paid by a sponsor is different to the accepted norm of sharing the winners prize money. What's the general etiquette on these win bonuses ORM?

That depends on the team, the era, and how things are set up. It's nice to be on the end of a "present" from a grateful leader, because in truth, that's what they are. Everyone has his (her) own contract, and some bits are open, some not. The sharing of winnings is the usual protocol, with shares to my recollection being 2 shares per rider, one share per staff member, on the event. So an eight rider team with six staff would have a total of 22 shares, and split the cash up accordingly. That's what generally works, but in the modern time contracts have got a lot better and so hopefully no-one is too desperate for the extras in the top couple of divisions. But a win sharing arrangement is simply good manners, and that makes friends in the peloton, and you need friends in the peloton for those days when it all goes a bit awry.
