Well I didn't expect that!
I'm trying to work out how I can 'fess up to supporting a UCI initiative without it coming back to bite me.
Why? I wanted an independent commission and they are setting one up. I wanted them off Kimmage's back and they've leapt off. I want to target the whole structure that supports and promotes doping and that's on the agenda too. All that's missing is that McQuaid and Verbruggen are still there.
I've not fallen in love. And I fully expect to be disappointed. Things will become clearer pretty quickly in my opinion. Bof is right, no one with any self-respect will take the role without rigorous and effective terms of reference to work to. That'll be the first hurdle. One crucial indicator of their independence will be the ability to publish their report.
The drug users and those who live off them are going to have to start organising pretty smartly to head off threats to their pre-eminence. That'll start soon - if we don't see it, we'll know the current moves are not up to the task. The Dangerous Brothers will let us know in the next couple of weeks if things are not going to their plan - whatever it is. One indicator of their thinking will be who they pick as the sports body to nominate commission members. Lets see.
In the meantime, the mice on the management committee have roared! Bravo to them.
