@Jameshow Please could you edit the thread title? It's "Piran" not a difficult one to spell and a national saint's name so worth getting correct.

The rules have not changed and it seems like someone was aware there was a problem, else they wouldn't have faked up labels. The team either should have known they were breaking the rules, so they shouldn't really complain no matter what fine, or they should have the manufacturer assurances in writing and kept them, which may bring a lower fine for being gullible rather than devious. Even the minimum CHF10,000 (£11,300) is a fair chunk to a small team, so I hope the fine doesn't kill it. If they get fined the maximum CHF100,000, it might have been cheaper to go to a shop and buy approved frames retail.

Not to mention the very odd cause of their "situation" by declaring their La Pierre bikes unsafe despite FDJ racing on same bike on world tour at that time?

Yes, teams have always put rider health above commercial concerns. Especially teams that went professional in the 1990s like Groupama-FDJ and US Postal. 🤥
