Increase in seizures of illegal ebikes

Just read in the local paper that the Police have had a "Day of Action" around here

Sounds like they did a lot of "advising the public" stuff around several places that I often ride around

and several bikes were seized
well - sounds like it was 9 - which is not many in my view for a whole day
some were straight on motorbikes and some illegally adapted bikes and one an escooter

personally I reckon they were aiming at low hanging fruit by going to local parks and beauty spots during the day
the dodgy ones are not in these places at these time

still - at least they are doing something!!

Legislation has not kept up with reality. There are plenty of people I see on a daily basis essentially riding mopeds with no number plate or helmet. No to mention all the fires that are often caused by bad chargers.

It isn't the legislation that is at fault here, but rather enforcement of it.

Those things are illegal to use on the road, and no change to legislation can make them more so.
