In Harry Potter and Deathly Hallows Harry and Hagrid travel from Privet drive in Surrey to the Burrow in Devon, via a chase scene through the Dartford tunnel.
Any fool knows that they are going the wrong way round the M25 to get to Devon.

Captain Ramius is trying to defect to America, but it'll be dicey as the east coast of murica is being picketed by Russian subs looking for him.

So why not just go down the south Atlantic, round Tierra Del Fuego, up the Pacific and sail into Los Angeles unopposed?

I used to sail dinghies a lot

I am banned at home for commenting on the sail setting of boats/ships in films that appear to be sailing in a ridiculous way
often with a wake behind them that CLEARLY comes from a propeller.
Peppa Pig's family are also terrible at water safety and boat handling - I have explained this to the 2 year old grandson in detail to much eye rolling from his Gran

Uh huh... But why English? Why not Cantonese, Tagalog, Brazilian Portuguese... Romansch?

Umm, it's set near New York after all, at the risk of giving away a crucial scene

That's like me with any railway scene in a film or on the telly.

'But that's not the same train he got on!'

Or

'That's not historically accurate... The preserved line who shot that should be ashamed of themselves!'

Etc etc

😆

The other Russian guy also 'slipped on tea'.

Sorry, had a fatal slip... On carpet?'
You'll have to think of a better excuse than that, Captain!

Quite. Seeing Ensigns fluttering boldly behind them as they sail with the wind is quite good too.

The Italian Job.

The gold bars not only weigh rather more than a Mini can carry, but the volume they stole would not fit in the boot either.

The volume would fit easily actually, it is the weight that would be a problem.

It was supposedly 4 million dollars worth, which at that time means 3,200Kg - so each mini would have to carry 1070 Kg - that takes up a space of a cube about 40cm per side. This would be about 86 "standard" bars which are about 10" x 5" x 3" in size.

But the carrying capacity of a 1960's mini cooper was nothing like 1070Kg. It had an unladen weight of around 650Kg, but I can't find any detail of MGW anywhere. I'm sure it would not be more than twice the unladen weight though.

And to put it into context, according to the podcast about the Brinks Mat Robbery, they loaded the gold into a Transit van, which was so heavy it struggled to get moving!
