blah blah blah...... the lingering aftertaste of black pepper? You ought to go and view a few Nigella videos, I think.

The best pork pie I have ever tasted without a doubt are from Stanforths in Skipton, I once ate 8 one after another for a bet. Just incredible, they melt in your mouth even as the jelly runs down your chin.

Stanforths are good I'd give them from my virtual tasting notes :mrpig::mrpig::mrpig::mrpig::mrpig::mrpig::mrpig::mrpig::mrpig:

Stanforths pies are best eaten warm. They lose their allure when cold as do Appletons of Ripon.

Greenwood's pies are best eaten cold.

The Cockburn's pork and red onion pies are great warm or cold as are their pork pies.

The other Cockburns pies were best when cold.

Only the Greenwood's pork pie had gravy.

Gravy/jelly is appropriate for some but not all pork pies usually just the straightforward plain pork pie.

I find the jelly a distraction and in some instances a detriment to the enjoyment of a pie.

Personal best is now nine pies and a pork and bacon wrap - had to confirm the eating status of the sole surviving Cockburn's pork during the composition of this addendum.

Best pie is a proper Butter Pie from Preston
We were confronted this week actually IN Preston. And although I'm a Northerner, it was a first for me. I was in the canteen of the Royal Preston Hospital with a colleague who turned to me and asked what a 'butter pie' was but I\d never heard of it. It was described to us as a potato pie with a lot of butter, so we gave it a swerve.

That's bollocks.
Unusual ingredient. From which animal, Vernon?
I think you should start your own pie factory - export them down south to rich p, who will build a 'sampling and purchase station' within his Son's butchers shop. 'Vernons Veal Vernacular' will take Brighton and the South Coast by storm! Next, your own chain, selling variety..."Down A Crust" or somesuch name. You were Born to Pie.:santa:

Sometimes i do the number 97 bus service to Guiseley. Just the other side of the road from the terminus (opposite Morrisons) there is a really nice butchers called Tony Woods, they do a really nice pork pie so i often pop in there and buy a couple and scoff them in my lay over time:hungry:
Sometimes they are still warm which makes them even more scrummy.

This is the best I have found in London, their chicken pie in particular is simply outstanding.

Nevertheless the hunt for the best pie is a never-ending quest, so all leads are welcomed! :mrpig:
