But utterly pointless, you can't use all that power, wether on a straight flat road like in that damn God awful 'merica place or on far more civilised Continental and British roads,
You don't need anything more than 650cc engine, my Honda is a 350 ,29 hp, more than man enough for what I legally want to do, admittedly, twice the power will make life easier ,but then it comes with bigger bills!
Less is more!

The worst incarnation of these was the Aspenade, effectively a Christmas tree on wheels or that's what it resembled in the dark. If you dropped it, it stayed dropped.

Referring to the quote earlier about only one with reverse gear it is the starter motor I think that moves ut backwards. The only motorcycles with an actual reverse gear are the Ural, Zundapp and the BMW military sidecars.

Not to sure?
I do miss mine, but at the time there were simply not enough hours in the day or days in the week to enjoy riding this and cycling, so one had to go.

Really most of my mates loved the LC

At the time BMW wanted to attract sports bike riders over to the GS range so they made the 1200 a lot higher revving, but in doing so it lost a lot of its appeal and low down grunt. That was one thing I liked about the 1150 was its ability to pick up speed was very low revs, especially when either fully loaded or two up.
Don't get me wrong, I sort of liked the 1200 but it was a completely different beast to the outgoing 1150. Before the Adventure I had the normal 1150, did 18,000 mile on that in its first year! Probably the best machine I have ever owned to be honest.

Try picking that up if you drop it.A truss fund my be advisable

There are techniques to pick up bikes when they are dropped (lifting backwards with your legs). If anything, a Goldwing would not fall as far due to the engine guards and footpegs etc. A "naked" bike that weighs 220kgs would argubaly be harder, as they tend to fall over flat
