They've knocked down the pyramid now. Infact I shudder to think what the place looks like now as demolotion work was already starting as I moved out and I lived about 50 yards from it.

The pool is gone but the rest is still there:angry::smile::wacko:!

I'd say walk the walls - you get to nose in on some of the big old houses in around (and presumably accommodating clergy etc.) the minster as well as get a good view of different parts of the city.

Given that you're 16 - Evil Eye Lounge is a great place to chill out with a coffee or non-alcoholic cocktail, especially if the weather turns bad
It's on Stonegate, also the home of little Betty's - go hear if you fancy parting with a tenner for tea and cake.

I concur with marinyork on the Sam Smith's pubs, especially the one down by the river. That reminds me, funny story.

The Sam Smiths pub near the entrance to the Minster on petergate, is basically a gay pub. It's not overly obvious because it ain't exactly Manchester or Birmingham is it! They had the best ever food blackboard outside I have ever seen in my life.

"This week is National Sausage Week. Go on.... be daring, put a sausage in your mouth"

Subtly so - I'm quite happy going in there but my girlfriend at the time didn't like seeing two men holding hands or the rainbow flyers dotted round advertising various club nights, then when two women kissed she was out the door much to my astonishment. So not a full-on gay pub with flags a flying and a name like "DV8", but friendly nonetheless.
For reference this was from several visits in 2005/06

Last time someone had a heart attack at the top, they had to get an air-sea rescue chopper in to airlift them off. I saw it arrive, and leave, but not knowing what was going on, missed the actual rescue due to being in Sainsburys.

You could easily go off the walkway along the roof of the south transcept though, that's just a hand rail. Not that I've contemplated it, you understand. And if you linger there for long, you get a tannoy telling you to get a move on.

Don't get the National Railway Museum confused with the Model Railway Museum. One is fabulous, the other... less so.

A meet up sounds good, Carwash, although I fear I'll feel terribly middle aged with you young people...

Arch I think we are all on the same boat on the age side!

Nonsense, I happen to know that Carwash is a mere slip of a lad. Well, he always seems that way, but then I've known him since he was 18....

And how long have you known him?

Ah, I'm not sure I should answer that, on the grounds of Carwash's confidentiality. Suffice to say, I'm 12 years older than he is.

Dear god, in some places, that makes me old enough to be his mother!

I'm certainly old enough to be Kovu's mother!
