I remember when foods had no expiry date.
Found it very strange when BB dates started to appear on pasta, rice, pulses.
Anyhow, I work in catering, I do have inside knowledge of course I have the relevant food safety qualifications too.

Sell by: meaningless. Helps shops with stock control.

I always thought the use by date was a 'sniff before you eat date'?
