I was riding home today feeling very contented, no traffic around and I was aiming at small puddles so I could watch the droplets of water leaping from my front wheel being illuminated by my headlight, it was nice.

Then I realised the noise had gone away.

I'm sorry, it's really disappointing. I didn't intentionally do anything to make it go away.

I've lost all sense of purpose now.

I feel nervous, like I should stop riding it until I can work out why it's gone silent.
Perhaps whatever was rubbing was lubricated by the water? When the water dries off, see if the noise comes back. If it does, spray water on one bit of the bike at a time until you find the bit that stops the noise?

When I was having problems with my hub noises, they were less noticeable when it was raining. I think the water was acting as a lubricant.

Edit. Previous poster made similar point, I hadn't refreshed the screen.

It's getting exciting now, isn't it ? :hyper:

Maybe chain being lub'd by the water ... or the hub being lub'd by the water ... or the saddle ......

All dried up now and it's still quiet!

Well, almost, it's started creaking now but I'm pretty certain that's the saddle or seatpost because it stops when I stand up (which is often)

The water washed out the accumulated dirt that you hadn't noticed under the mudguard!:laugh:

I had so much on my bike once that it wore down my tyre and almost stopped the rear wheel turning! (I had wondered why I was struggling all ride and could only do 19-20 mph downhill ...)

I'm the opposite. Will remain seated until 20+% or the Queen goes past. God bless her healing powers as I realised then it was the seatpost
