Even though you are upset, there's no need to call Little Old Ladies Son's Of Bitches...

I took your advice and walked into town (busses still snowed in) bought the bubble wrap and £63 worth of first class stamps.

Disaster ,after strapping the wrapped and stamped weights to the bike I got down to the post box and they wouldnt fit through the slot.

Couldnt just leave them on the pavement incase some toe rag knicked them so they are now sat on my living room floor while I await further suggestions from cyclechat forum members.

Do you have any idea of the scale of the problem you face ?

My weighing sessions have not been very accurate recently due to the cold and not wanting to hang about with no clothes on between getting out of pj's and into the shower (so I weigh myself with clothes on and then deduct 'a bit'). My scales aren't all that accurate anyway, and I struggle to see the finer lines on the dial, so only notice bigger changes.

Anyway, braved the cold this morning and was rewarded with a weight that was very definitely '10 and a third', than the previous 'about 10 and a half'.

Not bad, considering Christmas...

Just bought the coolest set of scales for a bargain price. £7.49 and didn't even have to travel far to get them.

According to that I'm 180lbs(12.8571 stone) and 16% body fat. So the scales were definitely broken.

I take it these body fat things are not very accurate. Seems a little low that.

So a year on, still have the same set of scales and sadly I'm about 13 stone 10 pounds. Never managed to get lower than 12.8ish quoted above, although might have and not noticed.

It seems my real weakness is wine. I reckon if I were to cut wine out of my diet, I would not need to cycle to lose weight. However, I'm a terrible sleeper so often feel nauseous, and nausea makes me eat more.

Cycled to Winchester and back yesterday, taking a longer route so that's positive. Also a fantastic time of year to really get back into cycling again imo. As long as we don't get a cold snap in the next four weeks, it's full steam ahead from now on. Roll on the summer and increased daylight hours.

I've never felt comfortable weighing more than 12 stone as I was 11 stone and under for the vast majority of my life. Things seemed to go wrong about 6 years ago.

How did you get on Steve?

Suggestion from CC forum member: Don't leave the weights on your floor too long or you will leave a permanent mark in your carpet. The Post Office may also instigate proceedings for the theft of PO property. This carries heavy penalties and you could be fined lbs.

Finally managed to get my eating under control and the weight is beginning to come off again after a massive eating binge which saw my weight hit 14.5 stone. Now down to the dizzy lows of 13.5 stone. Time to hit the exercise bike.

Still can't believe how much time I wasted this summer. So little cycling ( although I did cycle to a friends wedding). Not the best time of year now to take to the road.

How's everyone else's weight loss plans going?

Managed to fit into a pair of jeans that I haven't worn for a year and a half!

According to a posh set of Salter scales my mum has, I've dropped below 16st for the first time in a decade! That was a couple of months ago... not noticed much difference between then and now though :/

The What?!!

Well done on the weight loss- never easy.

I watched a programme where the boffins filled a blackboard with numbers and scribbles to prove that there are liable to be other universes (they never explained what they would be called if it's no longer uni) but in it they owned up to not really measuring/calculating gravity very well as there sums say it should be much stronger than it is.

That was the bit (apart from one of the lady boffins being worth one) that got my attention. I was expecting them to use it to explain why the pull of earth's gravity is getting stronger as my mass decreases.(or at least should be decreasing as I'm eating less and exercising more)
