That bit aimed at the OP or me? If me, I'm no masochist. I wouldn't do it if I wasn't comfy. I suppose it's like saddles - what works for one person may be a nightmare for another.I think you could probably do some laps in the pool wearing jeans or run a marathon in Levi's even chop wood or fish the stream in Wranglers you could write a novel in Lois or ...stop me if I am boring you - drive a formula one car in any or all of them - but - butt (no apology) if you have any respect for your butt wear something on your bike that doesn't have raised seam running where the sun don't shine even if/especially if there is a leather saddle on the other side.
Betters? Given that your longest ride was 10 miles further than mine?I heed the words of my betters in order to emulate them

You're no tool... I can happily do 30-40 miles in jeans. If it's especially hot i'll bung some knee length shorts on, but mostly, it's jeans.I know, I'm awful. I rarely go on 'bike rides' per say; whatever cycling I do tends to be for commuting rather than for pleasure, and I rarely have the opportunity to change into regular clothes. So now I'm looking at actually going on rides, and I was wondering if people had any advice for me? Apart from obviously "dont cycle in jeans you utter tool" etc.
couldnt agree more , i did my 11 mile sat am ride in a pr of rohans and a shirt i wore to work yesterday and still enjoyed myselfIf you can't do it in ordinary clothes then it's not worth doing...
