Clues in the word "disc"Hydraulic or mechanical discs?
I think they are hydraulic but I'll have to checkHydraulic or mechanical discs?
I don't have it yet but will try and manoeuvre it into the kitchenEasy to maintain that . Just keep it clean and lubed up.👍
Keeping it in the flat or on the landing?
ps it will probably be easier to work on if it's on the landingI don't have it yet but will try and manoeuvre it into the kitchen

The brakes can be a little awkward to get set up nicely but once done easy to maintain. Keep the cables greasedps it will probably be easier to work on if it's on the landing

Things often sound simple but when, like me, you know nothing they can seem complicated and mystifying. I don't even know what lubrication/grease etc to get. Hopefully, things will become clearer over time and I suppose I won't have to do much until after its first service. The brakes can be a little awkward to get set up nicely but once done easy to maintain. Rest is simple enough
First service should be included with the cost of the bike. The shop mechanic will set it up then re-set it after a few weeks riding.Things often sound simple but when, like me, you know nothing they can seem complicated and mystifying. Yes, I know. I've bought it from Dales Cycles - it's walking distance from me. I'll probably walk the bike home when I pick it up - though might dare to ride it a bit along the towpath They are fitting mudguards for me (and a kickstand)First service should be included with the cost of the bike. They should grease the inner cables when they build the bike but probably not.
Which shop are you using?
I'm not really confident enough to ride it all the way home. I managed to topple over when I was trying it in the shop earlier... Fortunately, I only damaged my pride. You will be fine. Ride it!👍
Spec seems to be:Hydraulic or mechanical discs?
Why grease the cables (new bike, new inners, new outers) - tell us more? Shimano recommends not doing so, I think. Old habits die hard, mind.should grease the inner cables
