There's a Giant store in Radlett which should have the full range, I'd go there and see what they have. The one in Twickenham has a sale on so the Radlett one may also do so

That is my plan and also to visit shops in St Albans and Watford......

I had contacted Giant Radlett and they said that test ride is available.

Fingers crossed I will buy something reasonable this weekend.

Been to Giant shop. SHe checked out Liv Alight 2, Rove 2 and Thrive 2...They only had the Rove in XS size..... The best was Alight.

Then went to St Albans, first shop (cannot remember the name) the only one available was the Specialized Ariel 2017...quite nice but expensive.

Then to Addiktion Shop, quite nice staff, etc.....She tried the Trek FX 7.0 size 15 and said it was the most comfortable (adjusting stem angle, etc)....They were selling it at £299 and we almost bought it but could not wait for then to sort it out as had another appointment. The guys in the shop were quite nice and felt gutted not to buying the bike from them,

Back home I was doing some review research and it seems that the Trek FX have good reviews, etc.....In the end we found the FX 7.0 @ £230 or the FX 7.2 @£300 from Cycle Surgery (Snow and Rock of bikes).

We ended up buying online the FX 7.2 (despite horrendous reviews of Cycle Surgery). Bike assembly does not look very challenging and we can always take it to a local bike shop if need be.

Worst case scenario I can put the bike on the boot of the car and return it to their Hemel Hampsted shop.

I hope the purchase fulfilment goes smoothly and she can ride the new bike next weekend.

Fingers crossed now

Trek must have changed their rules. Always used to be collection of built bikes in store only?

I bought a giant in Cyclesurgery, no issues (that branch has closed now, but nothing to do with their service)

Well, Cycle Surgery cancelled my order yesterday, i.e., 3 working days since I placed the order (Sunday BH). Reason: no stock. Shame they do not keep their DB up-to-date and also it took a bit too long for them to communicate this to me.

We will visit Evans Cycle store to try the Pinnacles and the Specialized Vita. Vickster is correct as I can order the Trek online, but Evans Cycle will build it to a test ride/collection. Therefore no home delivery.

EvansCycle reputation seem to be good, although we cannot trust online reviews fully.

Evans do vary a bit from branch to branch. As with any shop, it's only as good as its staff

Get a feel from chatting to them and listening to how they engage with other customers

In the end we managed to get a second hand Trek 7.4 FX on ebay.

Now I am going to look for a mudguard to fit.
