I've not riden it yet I've had a touch of gout in my knee on the meds and its cleared up day off Friday so weather permitting I'll be out for a ride might do 10 mile or so not been on a bike for 6 months lol so I'll be rusty having said that I've been going to the gym getting myself ready lol ps it really is a lovely looking bike in the flesh a lot better than some dull bikes costing twice as much

Will definitely be out on the bike with whoever decides to turn up for the SLR. If nobody turns up then i'll head to Richmond Park for few laps

So have now picked up my new bike and taken it for a short (~25 mile) spin in the Peaks this afternoon / evening. It is awesome! It responds fantastically well to putting the power down and makes climbing lots more fun (in fact, Strava tells me I've beaten most of my PBs for the hills I went up - I'm still really slow, but faster than I was :smile:.

I will hopefully get around to a fuller write-up when I get some time!

@al3xsh

How are you getting on with your new bike a couple of months on?

I've had it now for just under two months and am having great fun with it! Have done about 350 miles on it so far (though I'm only using it for fun rides - not for commuting). It did have to go back to the shop for a couple of weeks as the "adaptable x12 derailleur hanger" threads were borked and I couldn't get the rear wheel back on! Fortunately it happened whilst I was cleaning it - not with the wheel off at the side of the road!

The shop had to wait for Cube to send replacements from Germany, so it took a little while.

This is my first drop bar bike and I'm surprised how comfortable it is for even pretty long rides (by my standards - 60 miles). It is a lot more fun than my hybrid (which I still use for commuting) and is much quicker going up hill! Living in the Peak District, I'm also very thankful that it's got an 11-32 cassette! It makes getting home (which pretty much any way I take involves a mile or so of 5% + hill) bearable!

Regards,

Alex

Thanks for the update Alex.

One question if you don't mind - have there been any issues with cable rattle in the down tube? Pet hate!

Over really rough road there is a little - but I mostly don't notice as everything else is rattling too!

ARE you out Chorley/Addlington way @Ste pt1 IIRC ?

If so have you ever done le Tour de Bolton ? *formerly called the Bolton Bash*, it passes near your way & has 2 really good routes, both quite hilly.
