I must be stupid. I still cant get it off. I didnt know allen keys this big existed. I have a set and i need one thats about twice as big as the biggest.

well obviously (sorry, but had to be said) you do need an allen key the right size - and with a pretty long handle. I've got a superb set of Facom T-bar keys but they were very expensive ! A socket set allen key might also work - a free one from Ikea furniture won't do. And as others have said, one pedal unscrews the "wrong" way.

You never regret buying quality tools!

not sure I'd buy park tools for standard engineering items like allen keys or wire cutters - fair enough for specialist bike items
yeah it is a crank puller and a BB remover tool
Shouldn't you be on your way to school Ed or is it another 'teacher training day'?
teacher training! so good that these teachers need training every so often  might well be going for a little ride this afternoon after getting both bikes working this morning  will be riding a back route to school and back with the garmin so then i know it off by heart and can then commute all the way rather than take the bus in the future. because no way am i taking my 200 quid garmin into school!
Cheers Ed

Park Tools cable cutters are very good. Well worth the spondoolies on this occasion.
