How to remove crank brothers pedals.

Bought a second hand bike that had crank brothers pedals. I have no idea how to remove them. Assumed it would be a simple Allen key job.

Have attached some pictures below of the situation.

Thanks

They should come off like regular pedals, but secured with allen head bolt as you say. The rh crank has a regular thread and the lh unscrews the opposite way, in other words comes off in the right hand direction. As if you screwing up a conventional thread, if that makes sense.

Cant use a spanner. Its completely round. The new ones i have to put on are done so with a spanner. dont see why these are so difficult. I will have to have thorough look for a socket or something similar.

If you undo the rusty nut and bolt you'll take the pedal to bits, but not remove it from the crank. If it's not a 15mm spanner there must be an Allen bolt, accessed from the 'inside' of the crank.

Get yourself a long 8mm hex key, you undo the pedals from the inside of the crank.

Put the chain on the big ring or cover it with a rag to stop spanner rash on your knuckles.. Put either crank arm horizontal pointing to the front wheel, and put the allen key in, short end into the slot with the other end pointing upwards. Use a piece of pipe to add extra leverage if you need to, and push the handle towards the back wheel. This should free it.

Repeat on the other side.

Any idea what pedals they are and if those pedals ate worth anything at all to sell?

Thanks!!
They're Candy pedals. The end you photographed is the axle end, not the end to undo them from by the way!

Without cleats you'd do well to clear a tenner for them...... cleats alone cost about £15 quid, so leave them on, get yourself a decent pair of shoes and enjoy the Crank Bros experience.
