I had a similar thing in Leicester in the city centre where a PCSO told me "to get off that bike", unfortunately he was stood right below a sign that gave directions as to where the cycle routes went at the time. The 'proper copper' who he was accompanying just shook his head and grinned at me as I pointed the sign out to the idiot.
If there aren't any 'No Cycling' signs then the council are acting unlawfully in attempting to ban cycling. :cursing:

"How to make turds more delicious". That's all I saw in the title.

That said, I'm sure there are plenty of other places to cycle in Mansfailed that don't involve the city centre.

Here in Glasgow the city centre pedestrian area is a "core path" i.e. cycling is allowed, it clearly says so on their cycle map, also council officials confirm it.
But the council refuses to put signs up " not to cause friction among cyclists and pedestrians"

Best way to make Mansfield more welcoming would be to nuke it.

In any case, cycle through a pedestrian zone you deserve the punishment. If you don't understand the words 'pedestrian ' and 'zone' you really shouldn't be out without Mummy to hold your hand.
And once again - look at the signage on Google maps.

The ones I saw were either yellow panels (these refer to waiting or loading restrictions), or the "No Vehicles (Ridden cycles permitted)" signs.

I saw NO "All vehicles prohibited, including ridden pedal cycles" signage.

So Mansfield Council propose to fine cyclists up to £1000 for obeying the signage? Obeying the TROs? Riding where they're allowed to ride?

I would imagine (hope) that having passed such legislation recently they will be adjusting the signage appropriately.

Fine, if the signage is deficient then its a joke, if it isn't then the principle is sound - break the law, expect to be punished.
