Googlemaps says most of the road signs ban motorised vehicles. Cycling IS allowed, and legal, over large areas of the pedestrian zone.Thats fair enough imo, cyclists should abide by the rules the same as anyone else, if it is a designated pedestrian zone then cyclists should dismount and walk , end of.
And once again - look at the signage on Google maps.Best way to make Mansfield more welcoming would be to nuke it.
In any case, cycle through a pedestrian zone you deserve the punishment. If you don't understand the words 'pedestrian ' and 'zone' you really shouldn't be out without Mummy to hold your hand.
And once again - look at the signage on Google maps.
The ones I saw were either yellow panels (these refer to waiting or loading restrictions), or the "No Vehicles (Ridden cycles permitted)" signs.
I saw NO "All vehicles prohibited, including ridden pedal cycles" signage.
So Mansfield Council propose to fine cyclists up to £1000 for obeying the signage? Obeying the TROs? Riding where they're allowed to ride?
You may be missing the point? Cyclists have been obeying the signage.I would imagine (hope) that having passed such legislation recently they will be adjusting the signage appropriately.
Fine, if the signage is deficient then its a joke, if it isn't then the principle is sound - break the law, expect to be punished. And once again - look at the signage on Google maps.
