Bloody hell!

I do like the Westcountry, I`m in west Devon now, can recommend it, hope you like hills!!

Not a mahoosive fan of hills so it's about time I got to grips with them. Anyway, I can change my drive train for something more suited to a hillier terrain.

My Dad was in the forces and I married a chap in the forces. My feet itch and I'm rootless. I don't really belong anywhere but I have been happiest in Cornwall. Ex twit-husband was posted to St Mawgan, which was lovely. I kept my Stoke address and stayed down in his rented flat down there. From about 2003, we spent 8-12 weeks a year in Cornwall, right up to 2011. Only been down 3 times since but I doubt it's changed that much.

This year will be our 30th year in this house. It was was a wreck when we bought it. Did it up, then 2 extensions. I'll be happy to downsize when we retire but Mr K wants to stay. Drowning in 30 years of clutter, plus everything needs doing again! My parents are in the same house they bought when my dad left the army in 1968!

Since leaving uni in 87, and following 6 months of rented, as owner I've lived in 2 houses in Derby and 4 in Edinburgh. We've been in our current house for 5 and a bit years, absolutely love it, brilliant location, nice neighbours, and with last year's building work a room layout that flows beautifully for us. No intention of moving again until we can both retire, that won't be for at least another 10 years. And even then we could well stay put.

I think a lot depends on wheter you own or rent.

That's true - I think a lot of people are forced to move because of renting. I feel lucky to be of the generation where buying a house was easier. It's all a farking mess now.

Don't mean to derail and turn this into SC&P! You can, after all, get stuck in negative equity too.
