How many times have you moved house?

I moved out of the family home when I was 19 and a student nurse.
Since then, in total I've lived/owned 4 different houses, in totally different areas! (Norwich, Manchester, London, Scotland).
I've been in my current house for 16 years. I like the area, it's quiet but near transport links (M9 and local railway stations).
I don't want to move anytime soon but could see me downsizing when my eldest son finally moves out!

Lost count at over 20 as I moved away from my family at 17 and rented for a few years. Since moving out of london though, once.

Since just before getting married we moved 13 times in 13 years. However, we've been in our current house for 9 years and have no intention of ever moving again (unless I win the lottery). The good thing about moving regularly is that you manage to get rid of your junk!

Hmm... Chepstow, Lydney (both Gloucestershire); 2 places in Oslo (Norway); two places near Winchester and simultaneously two boarding schools near Lymington on the south coast and then in Oxford; Maclean (Virginia, USA); 3 places in North and West Oxford; a camp in Kalimantan (Borneo); East Oxford; Toyama (Japan); two places in a village on the edge of Gateshead / Durham / Northumbria; 1 place in Newcastle and 3 places in North Shields, interspersed with 3 places in Tokyo (Japan); and our current place in Ontario - and we'll soon be moving into our new house which we're building on the same site. Over 20 times, however and whatever you count, anyway.

Two houses with the parents, then away to polytechnic.

I moved back home for a few years before me and Mrs Stephec bought our first house, then moved into our current one about fourteen years ago.

Unless something drastic happens I can't see us moving again.

and we'll soon be moving into our new house which we're building on the same site.

I'm not sure that counts! Still just as much work though I guess. When we moved next door all our friends said "oh you won't need a remover" but we did because we had some heavy furniture. Lots of people said they'd be happy to help, but we had more care for their backs.

Also, tbf, it was down a long path, 30m down the road, up a long path... not two adjoining houses. Also on the day it rained so hard they had to stop and come back the next day.

Three times in my first marriage over a period of 13 years and three presently over a period of 30 years. I have never rented and bought my first house in 1971 for £6400 !!

Bought my 1st house with then fiancee who fecked off with another bloke ,
Bought second house with my wife ( still , blah blah forever etc)
Bought third house as a downsize when the financial crisis saw me go belly up
Bought fourth and current hose when it turned out that house number 3 was a cowboy bodge job so i sold at a loss and ended up in a ex council house , at l

TBH im not keen on the area but at least im not having hassle with a builder who refuses to honour the 10 year warranty , refuses to finish road, who sold access across the drive to another house when he didn't have legal rights causing solicitor problems, made the walls so thin you could hear next door talking etc etc .
Current house has good sized bedrooms, corner plot with brick walls /lockable gate so the kids can play out .

Too right, it would cost me £25,000 to move house in stamp duty, agents fees, legal, removals etc. plus i have two kids in school so would have to go through the hassel of relocating them too.
I spent £70,000 on an extension in 2014 so i plan to stay for at least another 10 years, and unlike the cost of moving that money isnt wasted, it is invested in equity.
