I've now got three brand new saddles in my bitsa box . All of them new and unused. As soon as I got them the finger and thumb pressure test told me that they were not going to be any more comfortable than the one I already have.
Wish there was a way of knowing how much padding and gel they have before buying
Has anyone else got unused saddles ?

If you can tell by feeling alone then why don't you go to a shop before you buy?

LOL! A question close to my own heart!! I don't have unused saddles (I give them a little more than a 'pinch and prod' chance!) but I do have 4 near new saddles sitting in my bits box.

Sadly, there's no way of finding out if a saddle's going to be suitable for you other than by trying it out. And I accept you can't return it for a refund then!

well obviously I would if that were possible but there is only one shop within 100 miles round trip that has a decent stock and all they stock is fizic type saddles with zero padding or silly sadlles with splits and holes etc.
What i want is something like a Selle Italia Regal with the rivets aka Boonen's saddle but with a little more padding. 18 stone is a lot of weight for most modern saddles which is why I am using an old Orange MTB saddle

It doesn't work that way.

It's a very personal thing, our butts are all different, but it's got a lot more to it that just softness. The saddle that came with my Genesis MTB looks very narrow and is quite hard but it seems to work fine. I thought I would have to swap it but I can live with it no problem.

I had a Specialized Body Geometry one that looked much better but I hated it. I gave it to my son and he hates it too! You can't tell by looking at them.

I've got two little used saddles lying in a box. However, pedals are my thing. Between two bikes I've managed to accumulate eight pairs.

I know I'm going to regret asking this Joe :biggrin::biggrin::biggrin:

but why have you got 8x pairs of pedals lol:ohmy:;)

Erm..... no spares. I use a Rolls, a Regal and a Flite Ti - all fairly old.....fitted to my 3 bikes....

rolls are comfy arn't they  bit retro looking for some bikes though. Which regal do you have ? is it the riveted kind ?

My Rolls is as old as the hills - the Pros still use them (think it's probably a UCI weight thing to keep the bike inside the limit as it's twice the Flite's weight). It's getting a little battered now as it's on the MTB commuter, so I may need another.....

Regal - the riveted one - been a nice saddle that... that's on my training bike.

The Flite takes a bit of getting used to.......although did manage 120 miles on it in September.....no bad effects.

Quite a few. Experimented at first and I have a few that didn't work, but now every bike gets a Fi'zi:k Arione and I have a box of the saddles I've replaced.
