I was riding into work today for the first time I was asked to be in before 9 :sad::smile:. But on the way in I could not stop looking at all the bikes I was shocked about the range of gears on some of the bikes.

So come on all

:blush: Sorry I have just seen that I have missed off Hub gears:blush:

Sorry

I have ticked the 9 speed box as my Galaxy and Audax bikes have got 9 speed cassettes, but my Condor has 10 speed Campag Veloce fitted and my Brompton has three speed Hub gears.

5 speed freewheel on my old MTB (converted to hybrid type spec), 3 speed Sturmey on my Raleigh folder. Haven't decided what I'm going to have on my Carlton yet.

Having converted two 10-speeds (2 x 5) to 14-speeds, I'd never go back (or beyond, for that matter). The difference is in the increments in the mid range: 2-tooth steps where it matters make a big difference, as against 4-tooth steps. But I can't think why I'd ever need more gears. As it is I seldom use the very highest ones.
