How important is torque?

Torque isn't too important until you have a part fall off or a thread strip or a part crushed. THEN you wish you'd bought a torque wrench.

But that's the time honoured method for working out the correct fit. Tighten until it strips the thread, then back off one half turn. :smile:

Have been my own bike mechanic for many, many years and never owned a torque wrench.

I guess if you have carbon bits to do up they might be needed but metal to metal you don't need 'em.

Torque is Cheap, as they say.

Unless it's a Park Tool!

Creaks can be caused by Bi metal corrosion where steel meets an alloy copper slip or such like will cure these creaks pedal spindle to crank is a very common one.
