Audax UK validates non-competitive long-distance cycling in this country. The serious stuff starts at 200km (125 miles). 300km is approx 180 miles, max time allowance is 20hrs. 400km is about 250 miles, max allowance is 27hrs. Plenty of people complete 400km within 24hrs.
The longest competitive events are time trials of 12 and 24hrs. The 24 record is 541 miles. An average rider might set a target of between 350 and 400 miles.
Did 65 about 25 year ago, was for charity organized by the local pub. It took all day, but we did stop at every pub on the way to collect money and wet the whistle. Got a puncture in the first two mile.
