I was stationary at the time of the "log fall" in which no injury was sufferred. I cracked my skull open another time whilst stationary. Impact speed from falling would have been the same, more or less. Surface onto which the head impacted differed. The time i came away with no injury, it was a solid marble floor.Velocity

It's your choice, the evidence shows little chance of head injury either way. If you want to protect against the most common injuries then you'd be better protecting your arms.
