How can wearing a helmet offer no protection from injury?

I was stationary at the time of the "log fall" in which no injury was sufferred. I cracked my skull open another time whilst stationary. Impact speed from falling would have been the same, more or less. Surface onto which the head impacted differed. The time i came away with no injury, it was a solid marble floor.

Rowan answered it pretty well 30 pages ago, despite the OP asking people to prove a negative (if you want to add extra equipment over and above the status quo then the burden of proof must be on the person adding the equipment to prove its efficacy, not on the others to prove it doesn't work)

All things* adversely affected by adding weight right to the top of the cyclist and extra volume to the head ;)

*Except possibly stopping distance

Do you have any idea of common accidents occurring in mtb ?

How can wearing a helmet offer no protection from injury?
I've just put in a few of my own questions on the subject. Or do helmets now offer protection to parts other than the area of the body on which they are designed to be worn?

More worrying is that you are so obsessed with exceptional scenarios that you can't understand the underlying pattern in the data. The data shows that they are almost similar, though notable pedestrian injury statistic both have higher datum values in both studies.

You are obsessed by minutiae, and quite spectacularly missing the point.

It's your choice, the evidence shows little chance of head injury either way. If you want to protect against the most common injuries then you'd be better concentrating on protecting your arms.
