I need to give the old girl some love and affection. There she is, in her element ^_^

Custom XXL sized frames have elongated tubes where possible but they usually lack girth.
Canondale tourers were unusual in offering girth proportional to length.

I love those early Cannondales. There’s a lady in the village, that has an M500, she brings it to me when she wants stuff done to it. Lovely bike.

...and wonder if i could get some advice? Always wanted the original Sun Metal rear hoop back on, but with modern cassette. Not sure how to go about it though?

I love them too- this is my current one.
It's a 1996 R300 2.8. 63cm frame, just about the best handling bike I've ridden.

The green and silver bike I owned a couple of years ago, it opened my eyes to Cannondales and how nice a bike they made.

This is my 1987 Repco Eurosport Tri A, made by Nishiki.
It's a 25 inch frame, quite a comfortable bike with just the right amount of flex in the Tange Infinity tubing.

Yeah?
I'll raise you with this one spotted in the wild on an Audax ride a while back

Small rider, needed very upright position.

I reckon that could be a bit dodgy if braking hard suddenly... There would be a lot of bending force acting on that extended steerer tube!
