Boris might not be such a bad idea. He's a big fan of utility cycling, very high profile, and quite erudite when he really wants to be. As a champion of public cycling when he was mayor he demonstrated it to be a topic he held dear.

He knows how then system works, hes well connected, and there's little doubt he'd attract enormous interest.

He has his downsides, but it isn't really a political role and you can always steer him away from the blondes and the birthday cake.

If you actually want to achieve something as opposed to merely having a figurehead who in reality turns out to do little to advance the cause and get photographed RLJing by the Mail then Bozza might not be a bad choice.

That was largely my thinking too.

You can steer the blondes and birthday cake my way if you wish.

Or someone a bit more honest that won't monetise it for his posh mates.

Full house! Negative social, economic and integrity comments in a single sentence!

The trouble/challenge with TV personalities is that their raison d'etre, their income, everything is based on them presenting themselves not representing policies and views of others. nb I don't regard Job Snow as a "TV personality" but rather as a "presenter" ie his TV presense is not based on his personality/views, etc.)

eg helmets. If TV personality happens to be a believer in helmets enhancing safety, could they argue the case for pro-choice as per CTC's policy? Could they put their personal views aside? Their raison d'etre, TV popularity, their celebrity is based on their personal views but as CTC President they'd become part of the CTC policy machine.

You better go ask him then. Let us know what he says.

Oh, and insist he gets a haircut and martens himself up before taking the position.

Getting a swift haircut! - I find that hard to swallow.

Edit: - B*gger! I didn't realise there were two more pages of replies when I posted that - I thought I was getting in quickly with the awful puns.
