Grabbed another couple of half days to work on the cabin again this weekend. The instructions state it can be built in 2 days by 2 men - at this point I'm assuming they mean 96 man hours! Here's the insulation fitted to the roof...

started taking off the vinyl tiles mrs ck decided she wanted over the original ceramic ones a few years ago ,i told her at the time the old ones shape would show as the vinyl compressed but she didnt believe me so now it looks crap.
Took about 2 hours to do maybe 8 tiles as i had to use no nails to get them to stick so i am literally using a scrapper with a hammer then solvent to loosen the glue followed by oven cleaning head on the steamer to get it all off .
Kitchen is about 20x8 feet so its going to take weeks a bit at a time .

Its just going to be felt over the top of the membrane, nothing too fancy
Will you be fitting several battens ontop of the felt?
Usually fitted 90° to the felt rolled out
It is wise to do so.
On windy days a large flat roof that isn't bonded down can be lifted, even slightly , eventually tearing the felt
The battens break the airflow across the roof reducing the lift effect

Try warming the vinyl tiles with a heat gun, should soften enough to peel up with a heavy duty scraper.
Good point, and I'm certainly considering it. I've used roofing bond to stick the overlaps down so that will help, and the fascias will also protrude about 15mm above the felt line to break the airflow. Will see if I have any timber left over at the end to use, otherwise might source some more battens

We need the decking at the back replacing
But too much of a physical job for me these days.
Have to agree with the management what we want and what we can afford.
That's the biggest hurdle to progress.
We may end up with a large rockery and the management being reported as "gone to join a closed order in Slovakia".
