Hi All
After a year of stalking this forum and thinking about getting started, last weekend I finally got around to it. I went out and bought myself a Cannondale Bad Boy and started out on Sunday with an easy 6 miles to get used to the gearing and the feel of the bike etc. - I haven't been on a bike since my morning paper round 20 years ago! Anyway the bug has bit hard and I cant wait to get out tonight when I get home from work to rack up a few more miles. Long term I want to build up to a 30 mile round trip commute, any tips gratefully received - Thanks!

If you're itching to get back on the bike that's a pretty good sign. Ride often and increase the distance from time to time and you'll be surprised how quick you can improve.

If you've been following the site, you'll probably already have seen the advice to get your saddle height right. This makes a big difference to how far and fast you can ride.

Re the commuting, there is a dedicated commuting section of the forum that is jam full of tips from people who were in the same position as you a few months ago right through to those who have been commuting for ever.

Stick at the riding and you will soon get to 30 miles a day commuting.
