Hi planning a ride from Calais to heninel, south east of Arras, using Microsoft smartphone. Have Here Maps installed and use drive function for sat nav for getting around by car, but still unsure how to use for cycling. Any suggestions on getting started. Sort of idiots guide required. Thought I'd just try out locally first, however, can't get my head around how I won't be directed away from busy roads and given routes for cycle paths or quieter road. Any help appreciated. Thanks David

It doesn't have cycle, walk, train or bus buttons like Google maps?

I don't think Here Maps on Windows has a cycling option (walk, drive or public transport). Oddly, I think it used to on Nokia phones. Maybe it will be re-introduced. I've used the walking directions on Here when cycling, but it's not ideal.

The disadvantage with Google Maps (unless they've changed things) is that it is on-line. Here allows you to download the Maps beforehand and save on data charges.

I have never tried it, but NaviComputer might be what you want - search in Windows Store.

Ah okay, so no good for cycling. Thanks. Are there any compatible apps which would work, or would down loading google maps route be good enough, again I've not use G maps for this purpose.
Thanks

Hadn't seen later posts still confused

Think I may have misled with NaviComputer - don't think it does turn by turn navigation. I am guessing that's what you want.

There's also CoPilot which works on Windows Phone and says it has a bicycle mode, see here. Again, I've not used it and you have to pay for the downloadable map bit but might be worth giving it a try in free mode to see if it does what you want.

Or, as others have said, use Here without motorways.
