Thanks everyone for your input!

I would be after 32 tyres as any thinner and I'd worry about controlling it! I'm not the most coordinated person and occaissonally have to skip off into the grass on my commute!

I'll look into durano and vittoria ones. Does it matter what the top pressure limit is on the tyres?

Jefmcg that's interesting! It must just be down to thr fact the geometry is different and my instinct is to assume that different=too small!

32c is a fine size for controlling, don't worry!

Fortunately no, it doesn't matter what the highest PSI is. -very rarely will you have to pump up to the max PSI on a 32c tire, especially during winter.

Also, am I being a wimp, are the Bontrager AW1 perfectly fine in winter as the description and reviews suggest?

Oh my, that's a long link address...

I had a look for you earlier, I couldn't get much ground on them personally, I found mixed reviews. - I don't think they're going to have the same puncture resistance as the Vittoria Zaffiros but i'm being biased as i've never ridden your tires. - Personally, i'll never go into winter without the Zaffiros or Contis, I just need the grip!

*edit I believe your tires are just run-of-the-mill standard. I don't think they're going to get stupidly high praise from anyone, but that's just my opinion.

Awesome, thanks for the advice
The zaffiro pro look to have a nice bit of tread on them, so that's my fave option so far, but having said that the randenneur ones look like they'd do the job too. Neither are expensive either. I'm guessing the pro foldable ones are preferable to the rigid ones (they are more expensive so there must be a benefit!)

No difference really at all between folding and wired except a small weight saving

Foldable tires replace the typical metal bead that sits inside the rim of the tire; (that gives it the shape) - replaces it with a kevlar, fabric bead.

It means the tire can be packaged into smaller boxes and delivered quicker and cheaper; it also means the tire itself is flexible which can help in numerous ways with mounting & dismounting without worrying about causing damage to the metal bead.

Oh, and also saves a good chunk of weight. Foldable all the way!
